Tyler Craft, Interactive Developer
I’ve developed award-winning websites and web applications for over 10 years. I’ve worked on every part of a website. I’ve built websites using prepackaged CMS solutions like Wordpress and Drupal to building custom CMS solutions. I’ve even developed content managed Flash sites. I am currently a senior front end developer at BASIS Science. Prior to that, I was the lead developer at TOKY Branding + Design. At TOKY, I developed our internal content management system framework, Eero. The framework offers a great set of tools that allows flexibility to build a wide variety of websites quickly and efficiently. However, it has a very usable and well designed administration side like a CMS would. Other CMS options did not satisfy my desire to have a system that was both flexible for designers yet also usable for the client.
“One of the great problems of our period is that we’ve developed tools that allow rapidity, but rapidity and repetitiveness do not lead to right solutions. Perception gives us right soutions” — Glenn Murcutt
While he may have been talking about designing buildings, I feel very strongly that this applies to web development, as well. It is my goal as a developer to always build the best tool for the client, not just the quickest or easiest tool for me to develop. I love working with creatives to build something beautiful, usable and unique.
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, yet went to high school in Saint Louis, Missouri. Despite this, I still root for all the Cleveland teams (no matter how often they lose!). After graduating from high school, I went to University of Missouri - Columbia where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science with an emphasis in Digital Media. Shortly thereafter, I received a Master’s degree in Education Technology.
Currently I live in San Francisco with my beautiful wife, Rachel, who is a Content Strategist at Facebook. When we aren’t working, we are usually planning our next hiking trip.
I’ve been lucky to work some amazing web sites.
