A couple of years ago I went to Joshua Tree for Thanksgiving. Ever since I've been addicted to the desert. It's what took me to Morocco and the Sahara as well as Death Valley. The high desert in particular is what I am drawn to. The combination of altitude and desert.

Over Labor Day, I took a trip to Taos which is located in northern New Mexico. Taos is at the edge of the Colorado Plateau and sits around 7,000 feet altitude. It rests just out side the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the southernmost subrange of the Rocky Mountains.

This is a part of the country that requires much more time than just a holiday weekend.
